My Non-Tech Weekend

I’ve heard a lot of people talk about their routines over the past year and how the solitary lifestyle in the home has impacted us both physically and mentally — sometimes for better, most times for worse. This weekend I did something I haven’t done in years. I went out to a tiny cabin in the woods with some friends, and we just hung out. No computers, no cell phones (save for a quick peek), and no noises other than the sounds of birds and bugs, and the occasional car passing by.

The campfire was bright, the food was scrumptious, and the conversation was so nice and chill. We were all in bed by 10:00pm, using small lanterns to make our way back to our cabins in the pitch black of night. And in the daytime, I got to go on walking trails with my binoculars in hand, to test out my amateur birding skills — needless to say I was able to identify a crow and a finch, lol.

The reason I’m writing about this is because the experience was something different than my day-to-day routine and it was nice to unplug in ways that I’m not accustomed to when in my home. If you’re looking for a way to unwind, explore, and rekindle some good ol’ fashioned social time, I’d highly recommend!
