I am a Pittsburgh native on a mission to help create a more user-friendly world, both online and in real life. My background is in cognitive psychology (B.S. ’17) and human-computer interaction (MHCI ’19), both of which I studied at Carnegie Mellon University (go Tartans!). I actually also went to kindergarten at CMU as well but for whatever reason that part wasn't included on my transcript.
Over the years, I have amassed a diverse array of experiences, ranging from defense applications to autonomous robots to virtual reality. I am currently putting my UX skills to the test at a local digital innovation firm creating the next generation of web and mobile applications. Right now, I am working in both research and design, with a special interest in design x AI applications and the startup space.
In addition to UX, I have several years of experience in event production and am passionate about artists and musicians around the Pittsburgh area. I am an *avid* concert-goer and will never turn down the opportunity to see my favorite shows. I also love being outside and enjoying Pittsburgh’s rare sunny days when I can!

I enjoy many things that life has to offer — cats, fiber arts, eBooks, tea, board games, film, cats, weighted blankets, bubble baths, video games, bird watching, shopping, and of course, practicing some good old UX design! I didn’t start out as a designer. Hell, if I’m being honest, I didn’t even know I could get paid to do what I do back when I was in high school entering into my first year of college. I stuck to what I knew, which led me to studying our good friend mother earth as a rockin’ geologist. That’s right folks, I got a Bachelor’s in Geology from the College of Wooster in Ohio.
After nearly five years working as a field geologist, I started dabbling with AutoCAD and got the brilliant idea that digital design was cool, and maybe I should look into it. So I did, and it landed me at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where I pursued my Master’s in Web Design and Development. After some freelance work and a few internships, I scored my first full-time UX job in retail, and I’ve been a design practitioner ever since.
As a designer, I’ve always valued the knowledge i’ve gained through understanding and observation, specifically when studying human connections in different environments and the role technology plays in all of this.

I am a husband, father of three, and doing everything in my power to help other designers realize their potential. My background is in graphic design, which was my area of study at Mercyhurst University. At one point freshman year, however, I made a plan to switch majors to study physics. There was something about the combination of science and math that drew me in like a blackhole. As fate would have it, I missed my very first physics lecture and failed the subsequent quiz. The gravity of the situation was too much, and just like that my illustrious physics career was over.
So, after graduating with a degree in Graphic Design, I spent the first 10 years of my career taking on roles in print design, web design, interaction design, illustration, animation, web development, and finally… UX design. For the past 8 years, I have focused my efforts on leading awesome teams of designers, developers, and writers move toward innovation.
In addition to UX and leading design teams, I am also known as Lunch Note Sketch. It’s my alter ego where I create fun, positive illustrations for my children on Post-it Notes, which has amassed a small following from around the world. Oh, and I also play a little volleyball every so often, sometimes traveling the country for tournaments.
